The Thennala Grama Panchayat is a group of elected representatives responsible for carrying out the administrative functions of the Panchayati Raj institutions. In the case of a Grama Panchayat, it is the main body that implements the decisions of the Gram Sabha and carries out the day-to-day administration.The main components of the Panchayat are:President: The head of the Panchayat. History of Grama Panchayat

Thennala Panchayat is an old Grama Panchayat that was established in 1925. Until 1982, the local people had to depend on schools in distant areas for high school education. In the first Panchayat election held in 1964, Parappil Gopala Menon was elected as the President, which was an example of religious harmony. The establishment of a primary school in 1920 and the C. H. Memorial Panchayat Library in 1992 paved the way for educational and cultural development in the region. Football is the most popular sport here, while road and postal facilities also gradually developed. Agriculture, including coconut, banana, arecanut, betel leaves, ginger, and other crops, has traditionally remained the economic foundation of the village.
